Uganda is a former British colony that gained independence in 1962. The capital is the city of Kampala. Uganda is located in East Africa from the north it borders with Sudan; from the east – with Kenya; from the south – with Tanzania. It covers an area 236,000 sq. km. and the population is more than 23 million people. The official language is English (most newspapers come also in English). The natives communicate in the local language Ganda / Luganda.

Uganda is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa, located between tropical forests and savannas of Congo, Kenya and Tanzania. It is here that is the source of the Nile as well as the 4 of 7 great lakes of Africa. Not accidentally Winston Churchill called this country “the pearl of Africa”. Thanks to it’s wide diversity of wildlife Uganda established a number of parks and reserves. Most mountain gorillas live in Uganda parks, Mgahinga and Bwindi in Kibale park – chimpanzees.

Bwindi Park is located in the southwestern part of the country. Due to exceptional biodiversity, it has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. On the surface of 331 square kilometers – except for mountain gorillas and chimps – there are more than 100 species of mammals, including endangered forest elephants and over 300 species of birds.
