PHINDA – PRIVATE RESERVE, KWA-ZULU NATAL

Phinda reserve, a lush green lands Maputaland – one of the wildest areas of bantustanu Kwa Zulu-Natal. It is a strictly protected area of ​​22,000 hectares, bordering wetlands of the Greater St. Lucia Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can also see wild cats such as lions and leopards, and huge elephants, buffaloes and rhinos, and representatives of more than 380 species of birds.

In this area lies another surprise – the nearby coast of sodium protects the surface waters flow over the southernmost coral reef in the world that can match the grandeur of the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.

In seven different places of this wonderful corner are scattered seven unique camps. The first is thecamp hiking, geared to provide visitors with shelter while hiking in the African wilderness. There are four spacious tents with en suite bathrooms. Guests during trips around the area will be accompanied by an armed guide. Besides tracking the animals and enjoying the birds, guests will be able to go on night rides to preview hunting predators.

Another camp is the Forest Lodge, which features 16 spacious glass-walled suites, built on stilts. Their sleek minimalist design can be described as the Zulu-Zen, because it refers explicitly to the culture of the region. Each has a private terrace from which every morning you can enjoy an unusual antelope – Nyala and duiker. Guests can also relax while camping a on curiously arranged pool.

The camp Mountain Lodge consists of 20 apartments of ethnic avant-garde interiors; each with a small deep pool and private terrace, which offers a magnificent view of the looming Lebombo Mountains in the distance.

Vlei Lodge in turn six glazed and thatched suites, which are also built on stilts. The apartments of this camp also have beautiful terraces with mini-swimming pools, from which guests can admire the wildlife. The public portion of the camp attracts guests with a romantic atmosphere created by the blazing fire in the fireplace.

Romantic atmosphere prevails inside six apartments with terraces and mini-pools in the campRock Lodge. It looks like a stork’s nest suspended from the edge of a cliff adjacent to the Rocks Leopard. Four thatched cottages characteristic of Zululand await guests at a secluded camp Zuka Lodge. From their terraces, guests can watch a lively watering hole or take a dip in the pool.

In the west of the reserve was built Getty House – a lonely villa, which is located in the immediate vicinity of an extinct volcano. It houses four apartments, each of which offers stunning views. Villa guests have exclusive use of an off-road vehicle, as well as a swimming pool, the view, thanks to an optical illusion, stretch in the vastness of the African bush.

Guests of each of the camps, after eating delicious meals provided always in beautiful scenery and landscape, set off can, by both car safari and hiking in the bush, even on a cruise boat or canoe on the river Mzinene and over the Indian Ocean admire there the underwater world coral reefs.
