SPLENDORS OF LAOS, 10 DAYS

Route: Luang Prabang – Kuang Si waterfalls – Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves – Kamu Lodge – Luang Prabang – Vientiane – Pakse – Wat Phu – ride on elephants – Khong Island – Khone Island – Pakse

It’s a journey that will explore the mystical beauty of the spiritual capital of Laos, see the daily morning ritual of Buddhist monks, provide the opportunity of preparing and tasting delicious Laotian dishes, and also try their hand at planting rice and fishing in the Mekong river using traditional methods. Expedition participants will have the opportunity to observe the daily life of the inhabitants of Laos, admire Buddhist temples and ancient ruins, come in contact with the natural beauty of the country and relax in the luxury resort of tropical wilderness.

Day 1. Arrive in Luang Prabang Upon arrival to Luang Prabang, guests will be transported to their hotel, and in the afternoon will go on a short tour of the spiritual capital of Laos. After 328 steps come on top of the hill Phousi, which offers a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings. Before returning at night to Luang Prabang stop at the evening market.

Day 2. Luang Prabang
After breakfast – a visit to the beautiful Wat Xieng Thong illuminated by the beautiful rising sun and explore the former royal palace, which is now the National Museum and Wat Mai, known for its bas-reliefs made in gold. In the evening, further explorations of the city; the temples Wat That, Wat Visun and Wat Aham. Then the guests cross the Mekong river, up the hill on which lies the temple of Wat Chompet, where you will be able to enjoy the sun setting over the city. At night you return to the hotel in Luang Prabang.

Day 3. Luang Prabang – Kuang Si waterfalls – Luang Prabang
At sunrise, you will be given breakfast, guests can take part in a very special trip to town to see hundreds of monks dressed in orange robes departing at sunrise from pagodas and wandering through the streets of the city to collect food offered to them by the residents. Then the guests return to the hotel for breakfast, then venturing southwest of Luang Prabang to Kuang Si waterfalls. Along the way, they stop in villages inhabited by ethnic minorities. When you reach the waterfall you will be able to enter its peak, and if weather permits, swim in the crystal clear water at it’s feet. In the afternoon, return to Luang Prabang; the remainder of the day is devoted to rest. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4. Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves – Kamu Lodge
After breakfast, guests will come on board the boat that will take them on a cruise up the Mekong River to the mysterious caves of Pak Ou Carved into a limestone cliff caves of Pak Ou lie thousands of gilded Buddha statues, the smallest of which are the size of your hand, the largest rivals the size of a man. After seeing the caves members of the expedition will be flow to the resort Kamu. Thanks to the participation in traditional activities, such as planting rice, gold panning and fishing in the Mekong, learn about the daily life of Laotians. That day, they will be given lunch and dinner. At night guests stay at the resort Kamu.

Day 5. Kamu Lodge – Luang Prabang – Vientiane
The morning of this day, after breakfast, is designed for rest at the resort Kamu. Then the guests venture out on a boat way back to Luang Prabang. In the afternoon, visit the weaving village where traditional Lao manufactured textiles and paper from mulberry trees, and sightseeing located in the forest temple, Wat Pa Phon Pao. Then, drive to the airport and flight to Vientiane. After arriving in the capital of Laos members of the expedition will be taken to the hotel where they will spend the night.

Day 6. Vientiane
The whole day is devoted to sightseeing in Vientiane, capital of Laos. After breakfast, guests venturing out on a city tour will visit Wat Sisaket, a temple of thousands of miniature statues of Buddha, Wat temples Prakeo and Wat Simuang and the stupa of That Luang. Also see the Victory Gate Patouxai Arc de Triomphe city of Vientiane. Tour ends at Talat Sao the Morning Market. Late in the afternoon, individual travelers (up to five people) will be able to receive a reflexology foot massage treatment. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 7. Vientiane – Pakse
After an early breakfast, drive to the airport and flight to Pakse. The participants of the expedition will take a short walk around the city, and then are transported to the waterfall Tad Lo. After lunch they continue the journey to another waterfall Tad Fane. Then they see the coffee plantations on the Bolaven plateau. In the afternoon return to the hotel in Pakse, where they will spend the night.

Day 8. Pakse – Wat Phu – ride on elephants – Khong Island
After breakfast, travel by boat or over land into Champasak, where guests will go to the Khmer older than Angkor Wat Phou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After visiting the temple guests return to Champasak for lunch, where the former royal estate and buildings are an example of French colonial architecture. Then the guests will go to the small village of Ban Kiet Ngong, where they go on a 90-minute ride through the forest on a hill Assa, sitting in pairs on elephants. From there you will be taken to the Khong, the largest island in southern Laos, where you will spend the night.

Day 9. Khong Island – Khone Island – Pakse
Today, after breakfast, guests sail by boat towards the peaceful islands of Done Det and Done Khone, where in the late nineteenth century the one and only railway line in Laos was built. Visit villages surrounded by palm trees and eat lunch. Then they set off on a journey to the southernmost part of Laos, where close to the border with Cambodia are the impressive Khone waterfalls Papheng. In the afternoon return to Pakse and visit the exotic evening market. Overnight in Pakse.

Day 10. Departure from Pakse
After breakfast, drive to the border of Thailand or to the airport.

The price for the program depends on the number of persons and date of departure and the availability of hotels.

The price includes: accommodation, all meals mentioned in the program, assistance of a local English-speaking guide, entrance fees to all the sites included in the program and all of the rides and boat trips, cooking lesson, and ride on elephants and all fees associated with permits and local taxes.

In price does not include: tickets for international and domestic flight connections including taxes and airport charges, charges related to the Lao visa (issued on arrival valid for 30 days – from about 31 to about 43 US dollars), travel insurance (should include evacuation helicopter and repatriation), alcoholic beverages and drinks served during meals, personal expenses (phone, laundry, etc.), tips and wages for drivers, crew boats and maintenance of the hotel, meals other than those included in the program, optional tours of facilities and all services, which are not expressly mentioned in the program.
