It is a true “Palace on Wheels” as the name, which was introduced by the royal family in 1982, suggests. Due to the fact that new amenities such as air-conditioned coaches and additional lounges were constantly being added, the train set off on its first journey in 1995 and since then it has enjoyed huge popularity. Palace on Wheels consists of 14 stylized coaches in which apart from comfortable suites passengers can also find a bar, a library and a restaurant. It was considered one of the most luxurious trains in the world. The train departs in New Delhi and heads towards southwest to Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan. Other important highlights on its way include beautiful Udaipur, called the city of lakes, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bharatpur. Finally, the train returns to Agra where its passengers can admire the beautiful sight of the Taj Mahal.
