It is the most famous ski resort in Italy, often called the “Queen of the Dolomites” or “Alpine Salon Italy”. The city hosted the Winter Olympics in 1956. Since then its sports facilities particularly skiing is constantly being modernized.

Cortina was also appreciated in the world of cinema. Scenes were filmed here for such films such as “The Pink Panther” with David Niven and Peter Sellers, “James Bond: For Your Eyes Only” with Roger Moore and “Cliffhanger” with Sylvester Stallone among others.
The region is part of the complex Dolomiti Superski, which offers 1,200 km. of slopes. Therefore, Cortina d’Ampezo is ideal for skiing.
